Looking towards Town End swing bridge with Tarleton Mill in the background. The barges may have belonged to Suttons, who moored their boats by the swing bridge at Tarleton. On the tidal river, the boats were usually towed by a L&LC-type steamer after the canal company gave up carrying in 1921. The other boats may be coal or manure boats, not belonging to Suttons.
