The canal narrows here. There is a lift bridge, dated 1998. One of the balance beams of the lift bridge has broken. The narrows are 50ft long. Locks on the Tavistock Canal had to be based on a minimum length of 12 feet 6 inches, the 50ft narrow section is four times 12ft 6 inches.
